'You don't have to be famous to wear the laurels of fame.'
-
Ngak'chang Rinpoche

'I would like to present Art as a phenomenology that is available to every human being. Art is the fire of creativity that is the birthright of every human being and every human being is capable of manifesting Art according to criteria that are so varied as to be impossible to categorise - or even describe...'

'Our senses are there - ready and waiting to clasp the sense fields in creative embrace. It could only take a short time for the right person. In the right place and right time - Art could come steaming up out of the streets as it does in the New York winter. It could leap forth like great arms of nuclear fission reaching out of the sun. Every human being is a nascent Artist - a creatively lascivious saint who could change the world forever - for the better - with an image, song, symphony, poem, novel, sculpture, or film...'

''Thankfulness' is the natural result of appreciation - and that appreciation is the natural result of the awareness that sparkles through when the senses open to the sense fields. Thankfulness gives rise to ebullience and cheer in the knowledge that appreciation and creativity are inseparable. The willingness to be uncomfortable for the sake of an idea - and the development of appreciation - is central to the existence of Art. Questioning the nature of reality is not comfortable - but questioning is vital if you wish to live your creative potential...'

'The duration or magnitude of fame is relatively meaningless. It is only the authenticity of fame that has meaning - and that authenticity resides in appreciative creativity and creative appreciation...'

'You don't have to be famous to wear the laurels of fame. You don't have to be a Paris fashion designer to design clothes - or to wear what you desire to wear. The essence of haute couture is the enthusiasm of choice which is borne of appreciation and assiduous research. Anyone can manifest as an artist of the streets by treating their apparel as their canvas. We can live the art that we intrinsically are. Fawn, beige, taupe, and muesli-burger shades of nothing-in-particular are not all that exist in the existential wardrobe department of sartorial vivacity...'

'There must be Blues musicians who enjoy the Beatles. There must be poets who see exponents of gourmet cuisine as Artists. There must be sculptors who see perfumiers as Artists. The mouth and nose seem to be excluded from Art - which I have always felt to be elitist. There is no hierarchy of the sense fields. There is only a hierarchy of sense fields in the view of society. Maybe a revolution is needed. To rephrase Rousseau: 'Chefs and perfumiers are born free yet everywhere they wear the chains of Artistic exclusion...'
